Hallo,

die Servo vom MB100 ist keine Option! Nicht nur daß die Lenksäule viel zu weit rechts sitzen würde (in etwa genau dort wo sich das Bremspedal befindet), die Lenkgeometrie vom MB100 ist auch völlig anders und würde dazu führen daß der Unimog bei Lenkeinschlag rechts tatsächlich nach links lenkt.

bevor ich ein neues Thema eröffne ... Ich habe ein 406-Lenkgetriebe gekauft und kann man nicht gute Bilder oder Erklärungen finden, wie dieser Tausch durchgeführt wird. Können Sie uns mit Ratschlägen und Bildern helfen?

Das 406 Lenkgetriebe wird am vordersten Rahmenquerrohr befestigt. Dies hat allerdings beim 406 einen anderen Durchmesser als beim 404. Da heißt das Querrohr muß teilweise im Bereich der Lenkung geändert werden. Allerdings muss es in der Mitte wegen der Motoraufnahme unverändert bleiben.

I've read that chassis pipe on 404 is 80mm and in 406 is 70mm. So can be cut just some sector half of the pipe and to be replaced with 70mm half pipe?

Have you any pictures and advices?

yep that's will be my next question. Any pictures of steering column ...should be some mounting point up on the dash. Is the metal strong enough ?

I measured:
pit arm/Kurbel

- 404 around 200mm
-406 the same

from pit arm to steering shaft
- 404 200mm
-406 290mm

so if you install 406 steering box on 404 frame crossmember:

-steering shaft will further 10cm...in direction of windscreen
-steering Stange will be moved in same direction

Will this change steering geometry?

why not install 406 box with existing mounting point?...with some 70mm insert?

An idea. Can the steering damper , be replaced with hydraulic cylinder, add power steering distributor (I think from some cars is relative ''stand alone unit'...like Citroen BX or Berlingo) and make steer assist in this way

I don't think that it will work instead of the damper as you don't have an input from your steering wheel at that position.
But to use a hydraulic linear cylinder is not a new idea. This is done on the 411 Calzone steering.
